AN UNDERWATER PIRATE ADVENTURE
Transport yourself into the underwater world of Treasure Island at Skegness Aquarium. With “buccaneers and buried gold" aplenty you will enter an aquatic universe of dangerous sea creatures, mesmerising sealife and creepy crawlies – just keep a watchful eye out for mutinous pirates along the way!
After starting your adventure with an introduction from our captain, you will uncover interactive zones at every turn, learning all about the fantastical world of marine life, including fearsome sharks, tantalising octopus and venomous, fishy predators.
LONG JOHN SILVER'S STOREROOM
Long John’s collection of critters have escaped the ship’s hold – are you brave enough to come face to face with some of the inhabitants who have taken up residence in the wreckage of the Hispaniola? With tarantulas, scorpions, millipedes and rats, only the bravest buccaneers dare venture here!
THE TREASURE ISLAND TANKS
In our Treasure Island zone, you will find colourful clown fish and other, beautiful species hailing from rock pool to rainforest. Meet a range of friends with fins in this vibrant and exhilarating section of the aquarium. Pop your head up in our bubble tank to get even closer to our fishy friends! You will also get to meet our brand new tentacled arrival, the octopus, with daily talks and feeding demonstrations with this curious creature !!
THE STOCKADE AND WET LAB
Be careful in The Stockade me hearties – as here you will find our Skegness Aquarium pirates! In Pirate School, you can listen to their stories, get crafty with a range of activities or even have your face painted (free for 16 and under).
The Stockade section of Skegness Aquarium is also home to our Wet Lab, where you can take part in interactive touch pool sessions, getting up close and personal with animals such as crabs and star fish and learning how shark eggs wash up upon the shores.
At the Wet Lab, we are also celebrating the best of British beaches! Our Wet Lab has new arrivals ready to meet you, so come and be amazed at the wealth of wildlife you can find right here off the coast of Lincolnshire and beyond!
THE SUNKEN HOLD AQUATHEATRE
In The Sunken Hold Aquatheatre, you can watch live feeds and diver presentations to learn all about the wonderful, water world around you. With sharks circling above your head, make like Jim Hawkins and wander through the Wreck of Hispanolia and its tropical, coral reef. Here, you will discover daily presentations packed full of information. Check our scheduled talks and feeding times to make sure you meet our divers as they hand-feed the rays and sharks – don’t worry, they are safe in there! You will also see black tip reef sharks, zebra sharks and bat rays. We even have extra special experiences available for you to have your very own dive with the sharks and rays.
THE SEA CAVES
In the Sea Caves, you will come across some deadly, nocturnal and venomous predators.
Here you will spot honeycomb moray eels, lion fish and porcupine fish – have you ever seen these types of sea life before?! You may be more familiar with one of our most
popular creatures – Sea Jellies! These creatures have roamed our seas for at least 500 million years making them the oldest multi-organ animal! Jellies range from about one millimetre in height and diameter, to nearly two metres!
DAVY JONES' LOCKER
For a more tranquil life, you can sit in Davy Jones’ locker while watching the aquarium life swarm above your head.
SKEGNESS AQUARIUM BISTRO & SOFT-PLAY
When you’ve finished downstairs you can make your way upstairs to our bistro for a range of delicious drinks, snacks and meals.
Grown-ups can enjoy the stunning sea views all the way to the Hunstanton coastline during a well-earned rest, while our soft-play area is free of charge for children up to 12 years old for little legs that still have energy left in them!
